Did you ever want to know what foods to eat for clear skin? Or what foods can make your skin look naturally fresh and flawless?
As someone who struggled with eczema since I was 8 years old, I eventually began to notice that my overall skin looked and felt a lot better, around the times when I was eating healthier. Does this sound like you too?
My food criteria was also very high — I wanted to find foods that were good and safe for someone like me with eczema (I couldn’t afford another break-out!), AND I also wanted to be sure that these foods would be super easy to find.
Thankfully, research prevailed and led me to discover a wide variety of clear skin foods; which is what I talk about below, in my video!
Video: the top foods for clear skin
In this video I explain how good food = good skin, and I also introduce the TOP foods that can make your skin look good all year-round!
And of course, it wouldn’t be a full Flawless post unless I told you how to always make sure you’re eating the right types of foods. Make sure you stay til the end of the video to know how to easily find more clear-skin foods in the future!
Happy watching! 😀

Hi Christina,
Very interesting video! Can I ask what sources you used for information about collagen? I’ve heard that collagen taken orally actually gets broken down by the body like any other protein. Is this just from your personal experience or have you looked into the scientific evidence?
Thanks!
Christina says
Hi Barb,
Thanks for the comment! As always I first share my personal experience and collagen is one of those supplements that’s greatly helped my eczema.
If you’re looking for supplements, go for the hydrolyzed kind — it has very small molecules so it actually gets absorbed into the bloodstream, (not the digestive tract) and then goes to helping your skin. This was shown in a 2005 study conducted at Kyoto Prefectural University in Japan.
I think the problem with collagen supplements is when you get the mixed ones or big pills — these as you mentioned, might just get broken down and not really used.
For research, there’s also many recent studies showing the benefits of taking collagen orally. Here’s a very good documented one on how collagen improves wrinkles and skin appearance in women:
https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/23949208
And another one on men:

Hope this helps! 😀

Hi Christina,
I have a question on the chocolate. Where is a good place to find this kind of chocolate and how much can I have?
Christina says
Hi Yvette, I usually buy dark chocolate in any grocery store. Just gotta make sure there aren’t any obvious triggers! Personally I eat chocolate every day — but I don’t eat other sugary snacks.

Hi Christina! I’ve been reading The Flawless Programme and it has answered so many questions, thank you so much! I have had eczema since I was 1 years old, and luckily the condition has gotten a lot better over the years. Now I’m 15 and I have almost cleared up however occasionally I will get really bad breakouts on my face especially around my mouth area and cuspid’s bow just below my nose. I always get red itchy patches which will result to cracking and flakiness. I really don’t know what could be the cause, and why it breaks out only around that area? Do you have any suggestions as to what the trigger could be?
Thank you! Your blog is so inspirational 🙂

Hi Christina!
Could you please recommend a specific brand and the exact type of collagen and omega 3 supplements i should try? There are sooo many different types (beef collagen, fish collagen, etc) and so many types omega 3 and omega 6 too, and i have no idea which to choose. Please if you could give a specific brand and type that would be great!
Christina says
Hi Lydia! Great questions, I’m making another video just on collagen this week and I’ll try to include your questions. Stay tuned! 🙂

Hi Christina,
Just came across your informative site and I saw the 3 foods to clear skin and collagen sounded good – I was wondering if you have heard of or have you ever tried bovine colostrum for eczema and healing the gut and is it something you would use in addition to the collagen?
Christina says
Hi Susan, sorry I can’t say as I haven’t tried it.

Christina,
What are your thoughts on greek yogurt?
Christina says
If you’re not sensitive to dairy, it’s probably fine to have. I don’t know if there are any “benefits” though.

I have been dealing with candida issues for 6 months.
my major issue right now is Eczema… on a bad day, i get itchy rashes on arms, legs, back… makes me feel quite miserable.
My acupuncturist put me on a piece of dark chocolate (85% & up) @lunch time. wondering if I can increase that to maybe 2 pc @ lunch.
what are your thoughts? how much chocolate do you eat?

Hi. You are very inspiring and your videos are amazing. They help me with my eczema and my skin. I am currently working on what I should eat more of to help my skin. I started having eczema in 2nd grade and I have been feeling bad about it ever since. Do you have any advice for me?
Ciara says
As I was researching on the web to help my eczema go away I came across your YouTube channel. To start in the beginning I had went camping in June of this year. It was a weekend trip and I had gotten bit by serval ticks. A week later I developed skin lessons and nobody knew what was going on. I was so scared and went to er’s doctor after doctor… i was told it was lakin planus, or it was normal for the tick bites to look like that, that it will heal… then went to dermatologist and one thought it had to do with hiv which wasn’t the case. The other dermatologist told me it was eczema… I was dealing with open, ozzing wounds for four months. Here it is September 15 on my birthday I wished to be admitted to the hospital because I was hopeless on what to do, I was in so much pain and so depressed. I stayed in the hospital for four days and saw three different doctor, MORE DOCTORS! The same dermatologist who said it was eczema was there and I cried because I had already seen him before.. All blood work done and no negative work was shown. No tick born diseases or nothing. The dermatologist told me it was nummular eczema. Coin shaped lesions. I’ve never had that before. Do you think the tick bites could have triggered me into having nummular eczema? Also I’m still using some cream I got from the hospital but I hate to rely on that … and I’ve seen your YouTube videos, I just want/need help or advice… I wounds haven’t open like they did before thank god but I am getting small red bumps that itch and get scared every time I get a new one because I don’t want it to get worst like it did before. Is there a routine diet during the week and weekend you follow? Hair shampoo or laundry detergents? I am using herbal essences right now and I feel like my scalp is itching, also I use sensitive dove bar soap. I use ride with bleach as my laundry detergent.

Hi Ciara, it sounds like you and I had very similar stories. I think mine was exacerbated by flea bites. Spent so much time and money seeing several doctors and trying different prescriptions. I also spent a night in the hospital when it was so bad.
I’ve tried phototherapy, topical steroids, creams and was finally put on dupixent which is an injection that I gave myself once every two weeks. It literally cleared my skin to the point where I felt normal. But I hated the fact that I would potentially have to inject myself for the rest of my life and it being a new drug there could be some side effects that could pop up later.
After over a year I noticed my hair was thinning, I gained a lot of weight. This may not be attributed to the drug, but I didn’t like the fact that I was taking something that had the potential to have unknown side effects.
Recently I decided to stop taking it, (also it’s extremely hard to get approved by insurance and exspensive) my eczema is back, I have horrible weeping eczema on the back of my hands. I’m currently on the journey of trying to heal it naturally. Just wanted to let you know you’re not a lone!
